Stavros
Originated as a small fishing village during the Ottoman rule in the area, Stavros is developing as one of the busiest resorts in northern Greece. Located 130 km. from the Kulata-Promahon border crossing; 80 km. from Thessaloniki and 100 km. from the town of Kavala, it is located at the foot of a hill on which is the old part of town. There you can visit the church "St. Dimitar" from the 19th century. From the hill there is a wonderful view of the bay Strimoniko, where the resorts Asprovalta and Nea Vrasna.
The Beach
Located near the bay and the quiet sea with shallow tens of meters from the shore - ideal for families with children. The beach is made of fine sand, greenery and old trees separate the beach from the town and offer coolness in the hot afternoons.
In additon to the free areas, there are separate ones with umbrellas and sunbeds. The consumption of a coffee or beer is totally enough for its usage.
Stavros Beach is awarded with Blue Flag. This is a guarantee for cleanliness as well as compliance of the water with all the sanitary and ecological norms.
